Claude Opus 4.6: a larger context for work that needs coherence

What Anthropic announced

On February 5, 2026, Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 4.6. The company describes improvements in coding, planning, debugging, and code review, alongside longer-running agentic work. The announcement also introduces a one-million-token context window in beta, a first for its Opus-class models. 1

For entrepreneurs, the important question is not how impressive the context number sounds. It is whether a model can work usefully with a broader collection of business material: product documents, brand guidelines, research, and existing assets. Greater capacity does not guarantee correct interpretation or consistent use of every detail.

A practical opportunity for marketing teams

Consider a hypothetical launch involving several offers and customer segments. Instead of commissioning disconnected pieces of copy, a team could ask for a shared analysis of positioning, objections, and differences between products. The intended benefit is a more coherent set of decisions, not simply a fuller editorial calendar.

Anthropic also describes work involving research, financial analysis, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Those categories matter to small businesses, but the announcement is not proof that every generated analysis is accurate. Commercial claims still need to be checked against original evidence before publication.

Organize the context before expanding it

A larger window makes it tempting to upload everything and hope the model finds the right answer. A better process separates approved facts from assumptions and current offers from obsolete material. Provide an index of authoritative documents and specify which source wins when two files disagree.

Ask the model to identify missing information and point to the passages supporting its conclusions. Prices, contractual promises, and regulated claims should remain under the control of an identified human reviewer. The model can help assemble the evidence; it should not quietly become the authority that approves it.

Longer-running work still needs boundaries

For application projects, sustained agentic work may help with changes that cross multiple components. That does not justify unrestricted production access. Proposed changes should move through a controlled environment, relevant tests, and human review before release.

This is a major development because it strengthens the direction toward AI handling connected professional tasks rather than isolated answers. For a founder, however, the purchasing decision remains specific: does the additional capability remove a real bottleneck? If the task only requires a short draft or a simple transformation, a more capable model may not be the most economical choice. Evaluate the whole workflow rather than buying the largest context window on principle.

Turn the announcement into a useful business test

Do not redesign the entire workflow around a single release. Choose a bounded task for which you can describe a correct outcome before starting. Keep a reference version of the existing process so the comparison includes verification, not only the first generated result.

Prepare a brief covering the audience, objective, approved information, and restrictions. Use fictional or anonymized information during exploration and check the applicable terms before introducing confidential material. Where connected accounts are involved, grant only the permissions required for that particular task.

Review the result from the customer’s perspective: is the offer understandable, can the intended action be completed, and is the information accurate? Then check the team’s perspective: who receives the request, who fixes an error, and how can the change be withdrawn? Without those questions, the test may assess a demonstration rather than business usefulness.

Record total time, relevant costs, and the types of errors encountered without assuming a percentage improvement in advance. Note where human intervention was necessary. Those observations help you decide whether to expand the workflow, improve the brief, or choose a different tool for the job.

The founder’s takeaway: a launch creates another option, not an obligation to buy. Invest according to the problem solved and the outcome verified, rather than the volume of promotion surrounding the product.
